Sadness and Fear vs Pride

"Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.' Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning;"

I have heard some people chastise others and have heard others be chastised when there is an expression of fear, doubt, sadness, or anxiety.  They are told that they are being "prideful" thinking that they are more special to be able to have those particular fears, sadness, and those particular anxieties.  In reality that is nowhere near where their hearts actually are.

They feel weak in their ability to do and be what the Lord wants them to be.  They don't have the faith or exercise the faith to grab hold of what the Lord has told them about who they are, how he sees them, and what they can do through him.  Maybe they have suffered a terrible sadness that has created a hole in their heart that affects their ability to desire the greatest things of the Lord.  Though these are all imperfections I do not believe they are founded in pride.

Pride:
1. Inordinate self-esteem; an unreasonable conceit of one's own superiority in talents, beauty, wealth, accomplishments, rank or elevation in office, which manifests itself in lofty airs, distance, reserve, and often in contempt of others.
In looking at the definition above it doesn't seem to match that when you are suffering from sadness, lack of self esteem, fear, or anxiety. In fact it is opposite from pride.  Its the other side of the negative spectrum.

In pride you seek to pull others down to elevate yourself.  In pride you seek to degrade others to make yourself more special or important.  In pride you see yourself as greater than another.  In pride you will always do harm to those around you.  It is a form of abuse.

In sadness, fear, and anxiety, unless you seek to bring others down to your level, you are not sitting in pride just then.  Pride is wickedness.  It is a sin.  A lot of times fear, anxiety, and sadness are more of a weakness than a conscience choice to go against God.

Let's think how the Lord, being the perfect parent, would see these people.   Let's look at a person broken with sadness who is unable to see past their current brokenness and feel the love and hope of the LordIf the Lord wants to help this person heal he is very unlikely to chastise them and much more likely to show over and over how much he loves them, asking over and over for them to open themselves to him to allow him to come in and heal their hearts.  After they have started the healing process he may show them the affect their sadness had on his work and those around them, but he knows that riding them while they are in their sadness is most likely not going to help them heal and to know their worth to him.  He is so  gentle and so open.

Now lets take the person bent over in anxiety/fear.  This is usually a chemical, physical, and emotional response to something around them.  It is true that there are tools to gain greater control over your fear and anxiety and the Lord very much desires that healing to happen.  However, unless you use the anxiety to make yourself feel more beat up, more sad, or more than anything compared to another person it is likely not based in pride as defined above.  How would the perfect loving parent see this person drowning in fear and anxiety.  I see him coming in all the quiet moments to reassure this person of their worth and value, and to remind them of all the times he's carried them through and he is still there and still doing it.  He will not seek to add to their fears of worthlessness and anxiety by chastising them for the struggles they are having.  That is very much against who he is.

Will the Lord take a person IN their weakness and chastise them.  No, he focuses with them on what it takes to pull them out of their weakness.  He will show them how they can change the way they see themselves and use that weakness as a way to come closer to and understand God.  He will show them how they can correct their perspective and use that new understanding as a way to understand, love, and serve those around them better.

To be prideful is to see yourself as greater than those around you.  Though you feel alone doesn't mean that you've put yourself above.  To be sure it is a separation from God either way and limits his ability to bless and commune with you which stalls his work with you and those he would have you associate with.  However, to use the idea of pride in that way is much more of a shame tactic to chastise and demean than to bless and uplift.  We all have weaknesses.  We all suffer from ideas and emotions that separate us from the Lord.  His desire is to help us heal all those and bring us into his presence of love and blessings.

In overcoming these weaknesses it is so very important to know that misery loves company.  Also, the opposite is true.  Happiness brings happiness.  In all that you can, seek to fill yourself in ways that bring happiness to you and your life.  You are an individual.  Find your space where you can feel the Lord with you.  Find your space where you can see joy in you.  Find your space where you can see how the Lord uses you to bless those around you.  Work to remember these times often.  When you are stuck in your weakness find times when you are able to recall those memories and work to remember that the if it were true then it is most likely still true (that's FAITH).  Not being able to "feel" the truth of it does not make it untrue.  God is not so easily swayed in his love and devotion to his sons and daughters.

When you are able to hold onto the truth (even without feeling) you allow the space to stay open for the Lord to continue work in your life.  You cast out doubt because you've seen the Lord's work in the past and you trust that, because of his perfection, he is still there doing his work.  It's far beyond you because in the moment you FEEL completely broken and unable to do or be anything productive.   In the moment you FEEL that you have nothing to give.  Guess what!  That is actually perfect!! The Lord can use that.  You aren't holding anything against him.  You have ZERO pride.  So, the Lord will take that offering and begin his work in you.  It may not be seen for quite a while.  However, here comes the faith, hope, and belief.  You have faith because you've seen his blessings in your life and those around you.  You hope that he will come to you and change you and heal you even though you cannot see or feel it in that moment (no matter how long that moment lasts).  And you believe that he will do it again though you cannot see it because he is not respector of persons and you trust that his love for you is WAY stronger than your mortal weakness.

Ask for his help and healing. He is waiting so very patiently and lovingly.  He has the power if you are willing to give yourself.

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

"To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." Proverbs 21:3

In this time of our world where correct law is being taken and replaced with wholly unrighteous rule a correct understanding of this principle is important.  For decades we, in the western world, have been able to live very passively when it comes to fighting for righteousness.  Studying, praying, finding others who believe similarly, and even trying to teach the correct idea of what is right and just to anyone willing to listen.  However, as the fire is being turned up and the wicked and evil plan is moving forward that is based in stripping away peoples freedom to think, act, and believe in their own way those who have been taught correct principles of freedom must provide an opposite pull toward fighting for people who want to keep the right to govern their own lives and families.

No amount of prayer or any other type of sacrifice will cover a lack of action to defend those who are being taken advantage of.  The best place to start this process is to look for those around you, even in your family, that are being taken advantage of and cannot fight for themselves or could use some support of some kind (far more than just money).  Elderly parents, how are they being treated in their homes, by their families, with their care providers?  Your children.  How are they treating each other? How are you teaching them to care for and see those around them?  The random person you see on the side of the road or in the store.  If some one is being obviously abused how could you insert yourself that would show care and concern for all invloved while stilll relieving the one suffering? Then when a law is passed that begins to dictate how you are allowed to tend to your family needs and even to the extent of allowing people to enter your home without your permission and remove your children without your permission because of a unsubstantiated threat, what will you do?  What will you do for those who suffer under such tyranny?

If we want the Lord's safety for ourselves and our family we must actually put ourselves out there for fight like he would fight.  That last part is of utmost importance.  Find out from him the battle he wants you to undertake and follow him closely as you work through the process.  I can almost guarantee there will be many times you will go against what you would think makes the most sense, but because he knows ALL the ins and outs and who is doing what he can give the perfect instruction that will lead to the highest chance of success.

Let us all stand up independently and together united in the fight to defend any who desire to maintain their freedoms and right to choose for themselves.

"And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—in memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.  And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land."

Anonymous witness

This got shared with me today:
---
To anyone who cares to listen:

You lived in a world that, you were told, was prosperous, full of advanced technology, and progressing steadily forward to an ever-brighter future. You were told that science would lead you to the truth, that man's technology would solve all problems, that your government would care for you, protect you, and provide for you. Yet, in a few weeks, that world has disappeared, replaced by one in which humans are afraid to come into contact with each other, where that prosperous economy has almost instantly stopped providing sufficient means for its participants to provide for themselves, where parents struggle with the strange new burden of caring for their own children without a state-sponsored surrogate. That same state continually spouts reassurances that this will all be over soon, and we'll be on our way to a bright recovery, while at the same time ever extending their forecast of the current panic. Thousands sit idle while their governments promise handouts, promise medical care, promise resources for child care -- while even during decades of prosperity and unparalleled technological advancement those very governments have proven themselves unable to live within their available budgets, unable to provide reliable medical care to their "heroes" and murdering those whom they claim to treasure most, and unable to care for children in a way that prepares those children to live responsibly in society.

Can you not now see that you've been acting on false information? Can you not see that the usual sources of information are patently unreliable? How could it make any logical sense to trust these would-be protectors now, when the system we've built under their guidance has proven itself so obviously unstable? How many times do you need to walk home from another break-down before you stop driving the same unreliable car? How many times do you have to yell at your children in an unsuccessful attempt to get them to behave, before you realize yelling isn't working? How many times do you need to burn your hand in the fire before you realize you shouldn't put it there? How many times do you need to fail before taking action to find a better way?

And yet you maintain your trust in these state-sponsored liars. Even while you fashionably criticize them for their obvious tradition of spewing false information, you quote their latest statistics in the same breath. You discuss their latest advice, and follow their latest edicts while snitching on your neighbors who don't act as you do.

Some of you have trusted your churches. How many of them showed you how to weather this difficulty? How many of them taught you to live within your means, to avoid debt, to teach your children at home? Or did they instead tell you to give them your money even if you didn't have enough to feed your family, and to burden yourself and your children with activities and programs within the church, ever increasing your dependence on their organization while preventing you from learning how to operate within your family? How many of them offer the same reassurance that they'll care for you and provide for you in times of need, when even in decades of plenty they've let their own people starve?

How many times have your prophets, priests, and kings been caught in lies, and you still listen to them? Can you not now believe there may be a better way?

What if there actually were a God? What if that God actually loved you, and wanted to see you through this storm, and any other storm, in peace? Your state has told you, "You don't need to take care of yourself, or protect yourself. Our sciences and our power will be enough for you!" What if that was a lie? your church has told you, "You don't need to learn to approach God yourself; we'll do all that for you!" What if was also a lie? Those churches have accused you, saying, "God can do whatever he wants. If you're suffering, it must be your fault. You must be doing something wrong." What if that accusation were a lie?

Those sources will also tell you that my one voice can be disregarded. "That guy's crazy," they'll say, or perhaps you'll say it for them because they've taught you so well to disregard inconvenient evidence. "He's just one guy. Ignore him," they'll way. Perhaps this crisis hasn't yet persuaded you to reconsider that advice. Nonetheless, I offer my own voice, small and anonymous, that whatever has shifted in your world, God remains steady. His offer does not guarantee the particular variety peace and comfort your world has taught you to covet. The world's definitions of peace and comfort are, themselves, still more lies. The peace God offers is steady and unwavering, even when all hell breaks out in the world.

God is no genie, who offers you wishes and safety in the blink of an eye. He offers you wisdom, and understanding of the natural laws of the universe within which he operates, that you may take the proper actions so that the consequences which flow naturally from them will bring you your righteous desires. God cannot magically bring peace to a world whose inhabitants will not behave peaceably. God cannot magically bring wisdom to a world whose people refuse it. God will not allow his children to fight each other and hurt each other any longer than is absolutely necessary to teach them obedience, and to give them every possible opportunity to learn.

Seek him, in person, and he will inspire you, and teach you, and come to you. Quit ignoring the evidence he offers of his love and care. Quit dismissing his influence. Quit responding to the lies of the world around you. Seek truth; you will know it when you find it because it will bring you reliable results.

"...[F]or there can no man be saved except his garments are washed white; yea, his garments must be purified until they are cleansed from all stain, through the blood of him of whom it hath been spoken by our fathers which should come to redeem his people from sins."

The Lord has a job for all his children.  He has a work that he is accomplishing and the way he accomplishes his work is largely through his children.  If you are a seeker of Christ you fit into that category (many, many others do too, but I am addressing the former).

If we are to understand what the Lord is doing right now in heaven and earth we must understand God.  If we are to understand God we must have a clear understanding of our standing and relationship with him.  If we are to be his vessels upon this earth we must have a clear and correct knowledge of what he needs us to be in order to work through us.

Thankfully he has laid out exactly what he needs from us several times in the scriptures.  In the quote above he reminds us that we must have our "garments" purified through the blood of the Savior.  The scripture goes on to explain how we do that.  It is so much more than reading and being able to talk about what the Savoir said.  The purification comes through personifying the Lord's teaching, showing what the Savior taught through your daily actions and way of thinking and being.

"...[F]or there can no man be saved except his garments are washed white; yea, his garments must be purified until they are cleansed from all stain, through the blood of him of whom it hath been spoken by our fathers which should come to redeem his people from sins.

First and foremost, we must recognize our dependence on the Savior.  No matter what our sins have been and what our weaknesses continue to be He is there, able, and willing to cover them all.  It is so important to know that as we give up our hearts and desires and take upon ourselves his heart and desires we will naturally turn from sin and seek to correct our weaknesses as much as we are able.  We will never seek to harm another, including ourselves, because we understand better how much that hurts the Lord when we allow those thoughts and actions.  In all those ways the Lord comes into us and takes a home inside of us to purify all that we cannot make holy ourselves.

And now I ask of you, my brethren, how will any of you feel, if ye shall stand before the bar of God, having your garments stained with blood, and all manner of filthiness? Behold, what will these things testify against you? Behold, will they not testify that ye are murderers, yea, and also that ye are guilty of all manner of wickedness?"

In this statement, "will they not testify that ye are murderers, yea, and also that ye are guilty of all manner of wickedness," it may be easy to brush off since it is likely that none of us have murdered anyone.  However, the Lord makes clear in the scriptures that teaching a person a way of life, thinking, or belief that is contrary to God and creates a space that divides man from him has aided in that persons spiritual death.  They will be held accountable for that, unless they repent.  Similarly we like to look at the words "all manner of wickedness" and dismiss any association we may have with that accusation.  However, the struggles that are being discussed directly after this is the wickedness being referred to above.

Behold, my brethren, do ye suppose that such an one can have a place to sit down in the Kingdom of God, with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob, and also all the holy prophets, whose garments are cleansed, and are spotless, pure and white? I say unto you, nay, except ye make our creator a liar from the beginning, or suppose that he is a liar from the beginning; or also, ye cannot suppose that such an one can have a place in the kingdom of heaven, but they shall be cast out, for they are the children of the kingdom of the Devil.

A warning that we do not allow ourselves the deception of putting off our errors as something else or thinking somehow we will not get the consequence that everyone else must get.

And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now? Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white, through the blood of Christ, which will come to redeem his people from their sins?

The change of heart means that you are no longer seeking the desires of your heart, all the things that make you happy and feed your sense of accomplishment.  Instead you seek to know the Lord's heart, what you can do that give him what he wants, his greatest wants and desires.  The Lord loves you and will allow you to do all manner of good things and bless you in them, but that is not the same as seeking what will give the Lord his greatest desire, or what will be of greatest benefit to him, or what will give him the greatest outcome.

Sing the song of redeeming love is not an idea it is how you live, think, feel.  It comes form the center of who you are.  It is not forced, it cannot be coerced.  It is freely given.  It is a rare thing and frequently misunderstood and misinterpreted.  People who learn to embody this characteristic are a threat to the devil, who rules by the opposite, and will slander, mock, and persecute these people severely trying to get others to misunderstand and believe false ideas of those who truly worship the Lord.

Keeping yourselves blameless refers to the constant need of every mortal to return to God every moment of everyday, focusing on the Lord's will (your change of heart) and living always from love (sing the song of redeeming love).  You will know that you are filled with weakness because of your mortal state, but you also know that when you focus on the Lord and doing exactly what he says for the blessing of his children he fills you with his love and perfection and therefore are blamless in his eyes (which is all that matters).

Doing that will keep you sufficiently humble and if you covenant/commit yourself to obeying God in everything he says and join him in his work your garments have been cleansed and made white because the greatest thing you can do is join the Lord in the salvation of his children.

To achieve these wonderful steps there is a process.  It is the same for everyone.  They are the keys the devil uses to keep people away from the Savior, however, it also makes it easy to know where to focus because it never changes.  We are all similar

Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not, ye are not prepared to meet God. Behold, ye must prepare quickly, for the Kingdom of Heaven is soon at hand, and such an one hath not eternal life. Behold, I say, is there one among you who is not stripped of envy

Envy encourages competition.  Competition requires you to put another down in order to place yourself or another over the first person.  The Lord doesn't ever want any person put down.  He desires all people to receive the blessings he is able to give.  If there is ever envy or a desire for competition it is rooted in a sense of pride or wanting to be important or "more" important (see the competition or comparison there).  There is NO room for pride or competition of any kind in heaven.  It must be rooted out and we must be willing to be shown where it has taken root in us.

I say unto you, that such an one is not prepared, and I would that he should prepare quickly, for the hour is close at hand, and he knoweth not when the time shall come: for such an one is not found guiltless. And again I say unto you, is there one among you that doth make a mock of his brother, or that heapeth upon him persecutions? Wo unto such an one, for he is not prepared, and the time is at hand that he must repent, or he cannot be saved; yea, even wo unto all ye workers of iniquity; repent, repent, for the Lord hath spoken it.

To heap persecutions is to cause difficulty for another in their path or journey.  Some unknowingly pray for others journeys to be made more difficult because they disagree with that persons choices.  That Lord desires we seek for the same thing he seeks.  He seeks to know and be known by all people.  Praying just for that and allowing the Lord to decide the best way to accomplish that is pleasing.  In that we can avoid creating a path or a "lesson" for another person that might not be in their best eternal interest and therefore also not working towards the Lord's greatest work.  It would therefore be working AGAINST the Lord's work and disliked very much by him.  Who are we to think we know enough about the Lord's work to know exactly what others should be doing?  Leave that in the expert's hands.

Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men; for the arms of mercy is extended toward them, and he saith, Repent, and I will receive you"

He has a perfect path for you and all.  Leave it open.  Seek him constantly.  Be willing to change in his ways.  Know that there is a constant that he is so you will always know how to look and test if i is him speaking or not.  Let him guide you in every way.  Seek diligently to find your pride and envying in a desire to root it out and open a space for the love of God to enter and purify.  He is the Kind he will redeem you.  Seek the love and salvation of yourself and all those around you. Repentance is love toward God.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

The Work of the Lord

I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. I, John, who also am your brother and companion in tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet… .”

Many of the Lord’s children desire to wait for God in a calm, quiet, and comfortable place. They desire the Lord to come and teach them in their time and in their way. John is a testament that the Lord will come and hold you in the most sincere sense in the darkest and hardest of places. He does not desire you to seek these dark places, rather he desires you to break yourself of your comfort in the world to gain comfort in Him.

But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are gracious and merciful God.”

In all our actions the Lord will never pull away from us. Even when we abandon his teachings and his doctrine he is always in the background doing everything he is allowed to without stepping on our right to think, choose, and act for ourselves. His mercy and grace is more expansive than our mortal minds can grasp. When we remove from us those false understandings and ways of living and replace them with his corrected understandings and ways of living and loving he comes closer and closer.

Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, “Ask the Lord your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.” But Ahaz said, “I will not ask; I will not put the Lord to the test.” Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? Therfore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

The Lord delights in showing you his interest in your life. He wants you to know that he is with you and that you are not doing this on your own. Ahaz didn’t want that confirmation. This vexed the Lord because it was going to affect Ahaz’s decisions in the coming wars for his people. If you are unsure of the Lord’s work for you in specific detail you are like a wave in the sea always being tossed to and fro never being able to stand firm and immovable. He does not want you to live in fear or confusion. No matter if there is war, disease, famine, or any form of chaos around you. He wants to be your anchor. When he lives in you NOTHING can have power over you. This is what the signs are designed to take you to. Ask the Lord for signs and witnesses that you are on the Lord’s path and doing what he wants you to be doing. He will guide you in this process. He will use them for your growth and benefit. The Lord living in your life to the fullest extent is THE greatest witness and sign of his love and his work in you.

And Jesus spake and said unto him, Have faith in God. For verily, I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith fulfilled. Therefore, I say unto you, Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive, and ye shall have whatsoever ye ask.”
The Lord desires to give you anything you ask for. If you allow him to bring you to a place where your desires are his desires and the only thing you seek is fulfilling the will of God on this earth he will give you everything you ask for. This gift is not given to those who wish to satisfy their own fleshy lusts, but to those who seek the eternal welfare and salvation of man. That is the greatest joy. To become a partner with the Lord gives greater joy than any earthly mind can understand. In the scriptures you will see many people who were taken to the heart of the Savior because they chose that specific path of seeking only the wants and desires of God. Enoch, Paul, Stephen, Deborah, Anna. He holds nothing back from those who will give all of themselves for his work. You will be able to move mountains. You will be able to heal the sick, IN AN INSTANT. You will be able to converse with God and Angels that you all may be connected in the work of the Lord. These are the blessings open and given to all who choose to accept the call and work of the Lord.

We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts.
Open the Gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal… .”

All Who Are Called

Galatians 1:10 “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would no be a servant of Christ.”

Paul speaking: “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really to gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”

There are so many that are called by God’s voice and set apart to learn his wisdom and hear his words. The vast majority end up turning to some degree or another seeking signs and wonders that are not the Lord’s desire to give. Seeking more than what the Lord has declared for them to take hold of. His teachings are pure and simple. All else causes a distraction and desertion from the Lord. Very plain yet the most precious truths.

Christ’s invitation to all: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have to money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you.

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them. And to our God, for he will freely pardon.

… As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth; It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

This is the Lord’s work. He has called it. He gives it the power. He is the one who sends servants out to declare what he is doing. He puts his power behind them that it may be passed on to those who are seeking for him. He will declare it. He will witness of it, and He will give all the blessings promised to those who allow him to rule in their lives. He is doing it. It is his work. Your existence is his work.

His covenant is a real thing. It is his promises of salvation he has extended to all people throughout all ages. It is the promise of bringing his children to him. He answers those who call on him in meekness and humility. Because it is his covenant has for him to deliver it to you. All his promises have an earthly part and a spiritual part. They are inseparable. Seek for both. He has declared he will do his own work. He will send servants and the only thing they do is assist others in linking directly to God so God can enter into them and do his great work in them. They are no better and equal to those to whom the Lord sends them. All brothers and sisters and seekers of the Lords love, mercy, and grace.

The Lord has declared his work is going forward and all that he declares WILL be accomplished. Those who follow him will “go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” That is his sign. That is his way.

Spiritual Sleepiness Is A Greater Threat Than Persecution

"And with righteousness shall the Lord God judge the poor, and reprove with equity, for the meek of the earth. And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked: for the time speedily cometh, that the Lord God shall cause a great division among the people; and the wicked will he destroy; and he will spare his people, yea, even if it so be that he must destroy the wicked by fire."

I read this article the other day.  I was struck by many parts of it, but I wanted to highlight one in particular.  "[An] Iranian couple had ... the opportunity to move to the U.S.  After living in America for a matter of months, the wife decided she wanted to move back to Iran, telling her surprised husband: 'There is a satanic lullaby here. All the Christians are sleepy and I’m feeling sleepy.'
One leader with FIA notes the alarming nature of her conclusion. 'That story was disturbing because that woman was discerning a threat to her faith that was a greater threat than the kind of persecution that happens in Iran. She saw that spiritual sleepiness is a greater threat to her faith than persecution.' "
2 Nephi 12 covers exactly the "satanic lullaby" she is referring too.  I may get into it in detail another time, but there is NO reason you can't delve into it with the Lord.  However, remember that He cannot show you where you need to improve if you don't allow the option of being wrong.  Your desire to know the truth must out weigh any desire for keeping any belief you hold.  It took me two years, but because of my stubbornness to not be blinded and lulled away in carnal security, like Nephi talks about, the Lord was able to eventually reveal to me the apostasy that the Book of Mormon and Isaiah talk about in significant detail.  That revelation is important to people because you can't have a good foundation built on faulty ideas, which is what apostasy is.  If your foundation is faulty you have to tear everything down and rebuild on a secure foundation.
Yes, it really is spiritual life or death to KNOW that you aren't asleep.  Throughout the entirety of sacred writing you will read hard words to the rich of the earth and soft words to the poor of the earth.  You will read soft words to the rich of heaven and hard words to those who won't put effort into gaining spiritual things.  Do not wrest (change for your benifit) all the scriptures where the Lord talks about the spiritual difficulties of wealthy.  Money is a great tool the devil uses to give us the false idea that we do anything for ourselves.  That somehow we have control over our lives and if we are well situated that somehow it is because we have done something good to merit that comfort.  The reality is money is a thing.  A thing required in this fallen world to acquire the necessities of life.  Most thoughts and existence center around the acquisition of money, whether you notice it or not.  Money is just a thing that you can share freely with those around you, searching for ways to bless those that the Lord has in his heart to bless (it is him blessing and not you with your money) seeking to have all things in common, as much as possible.  This commandment must be obeyed physically and spiritually, as all commandments must.
That Lord will do a great sifting.  Most people won't know it is even occurring until the burning starts.  Why wait? Why not invest the heart and effort in to KNOWING now EXACTLY what the blind and pacified look like right now.  If not for you, for your children.  The reality is a sifting is coming.  He cannot put baby goats with the sheep just because they didn't do anything to merit being a goat.  They are programmed to grow into a goat.  Learn what the Lord is looking for.  Awake.  Cry to the Lord for your wickedness and weakness.  Find out what you need to do to have the Lord call you his so that when the fire comes you and your children are able to be kept in his gentle, merciful, arms.
"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots; And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord, And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears; But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.  And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins."
